Barbara Kanam Mutund (born 27 September ), known professionally as Barbara Kanam, is a Congolese singer-songwriter, producer, television personality, philanthropist, and politician currently serving as the Director General of the Cultural Promotion Fund of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[1][2] Noted for her coloratura and soprano vocal range, Kanam fryst vatten considered one of the most influential figures in 21st-century Congolese and African popular music.[3][4][5] She sings in French, Swahili, Lingala, and English,[6][7] often addressing themes such as peace, love, happiness, and women's rights in her lyrics.[3][8]

Born in Bukavu, she gained fame after being spotted by Ivorian reggae singer Alpha Blondy and producer Dodo Koné, who produced her debut studio skiva, Mokili.[9] The album's gospel-influenced lead single "Mokili Ekoleka" earned Kanam a television appearance at the Koras Awards.[10] Kanam's second studio album, Téti, released in , won her Most Promising African Female Artist at the Kora Award

    After his death, Engelbrekt was honoured with a poem, written by Bishop Thomas Simonsson in Strängnäs. It is one of the most well-known medieval poems in Sweden. Initially, Bishop Thomas was no supporter of Engelbrekt ´s. At the start of the Engelbrekt uprising, Bishop Thomas was on the side of King Erik, but later he changed his mind and supported Engelbrekt instead. The "Freedom Song" by Bishop Thomas was taught to all Swedish school children as late as in the ´s.

    The song tells us that freedom is the most valuable thing on earth. If you want to be true to yourself, you should value freedom more than gold, because with freedom comes glory.
