Swedish Pronunciation

Pronunciation of the Swedish language is fairly straightforward. Here are a few things to remember.

The letter combination dj is pronounced like the y in yes.

Before the vowels (e i y ä ö) or in the combination gj, g is pronounced like the y in yes. Otherwise it is pronounced like the g in go.

Before the vowels (e i y ä ö) or in the combination kj, k is pronounced similar to like sh in shirt. Otherwise it is pronounced like k in king.

The letter e is pronounced like the e in bed.

The letter i is pronounced like the i in bid.
